Bulb breaking. Photo was taken using the short flash duration to capture the image. You can see a string going up from the hammer head which was attached to a piece of tin foil. When the hammer head was inside the bulb, the string pulled one piece of tin foil against another completing the flash circuit. The lights were turned off, shutter opened and the hammer was dropped.
